Well Saturday I was at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. It brought back good memories of our team supporting this race each year by sponsoring the Survivor Breakfast and team input each year.

Good Evening to all!!!

Thought I would give you an update on what I have finally accomplished. After leaving the plant in 2006, I finally have worked a complete year at one place. I am still working at Almatis the old Alcoa plant between Benton and Bryant. My family and I are doing pretty good. The kids are going up fast. I see Karen Ellis about every other week. She works in Benton also so we meet up for lunch.

I thought of us setting up the plant for hurricane victims back in 2005 during this past weekend. Again we are a blessed people to have worked with such a caring group of people. Hope all are well!!
Take care.

Today is a day that I think quite often of Gary Mount and giving all of us Valentine’s cards. I can remember coming into work and there on my desk would be a card from someone and the card would be signed “YGM” – Young Gary Mount. So in memory of Gary today, Happy Valentines.

This week’s Tornado and last month’s Tornado makes me think of all the good things that we as a group of people and company did for our fellow men and women. I also think about all the good we did for the Susan G. Komen Foundation by helping with their team efforts of data entry and shipping and the Survivor’s breakfast….

I would like to say – Thanks for being there … I truly miss those times and how we all came together as one force….

Happy New Year!!!

Can’t believe it is 2008!!! My life has changed a lot in the last two years. My last day at the plant(7400 Scott Hamilton) was in September of 2006. At that time, Randy and I had adopted one son, Justin. Then in December of 2006 we adopted another baby a little red head girl, Mackenzie, and the red hair goes with the temper. I worked for 7 1/2 months for Corporate Alltel and then started working for Almatis, the old Alcoa plant between Bryant and Benton. Corporate world was fun but I am an old factory girl at heart and I hated the drive to downtown Little Rock. It is nice to be 10 minutes at the most from work….

I still enjoy going to the UALR basketball games. Justin and I go with Sherry Turley and one of her sisters. My Mom has moved to the country and with that we now enjoy the country life some and we have a horse named Max. So now at an old age, I have started riding horses some in the Ozark Mountains…..

For those of you who don’t know me as Bobbie Reese, I am Bobbie Hays… I hired in 1983 and worked in Accounting.

Again thanks to the guys behind the scene to get this blog site working for us all…

Happy New Year!!!!!

Mike/ttylr,
I stumbled onto your website/blog today and was glad to find it. Isn’t the internet a great place… My wife Pat & I have an empty nest, but the girls come and visit often. We live on Table Rock Lake in Missouri. I’m retired, but my wife Pat is an RN and still works for St. Johns.
Many of you may remember my uncle John Wolthuis, he and his family came and spent a week with us last year for John and Helens 50th wedding anniversary. What a great time that was.
Anytime I have a chance to recall good times that were had at Teletype, I do so.

I have marked the website and will pass on the information to others that were also at that location.

It’s great to hear from everyone!

Ray and I, now married alomst 18 years, live in North Little Rock (in the Scott area)with Arti and Ray 2007our dachshund Rosi. Our daughter, JoBeth is an advanced practice nurse at UAMS in Little Rock. At age 37, she married Troy Singleton in April. We had a big church wedding and all survived! JoBeth & Troy are state represensatives for the Dachshund Rescue Organization so they always have a houseful of little doxies – our grandchildren we assume.

I’m HR Manager at Dassault Falcon Jet and still enjoy working; not sure when I will decide to retire. I work with several forer AT&T employees – Mike Berger, Walter Jones, Murray Hamilton among others. Ray has retired several times, once from the Navy after 22 years, and then from Celestica in 2006. Seems that when he stays home he is prone to falling off ladders and breaking bones (first a heel, then a wrist) so we’ve decided he’s better off working! He’s now working with Stan Ackerman and Betty McGhee at Deceuninck in the Little Rock riverport area.

Ray’s 89-year-old Mom is in the England Manor nursing home in the same room as her twin sister. Yes – Florene and Corene, age 89, came into the world together and are spending their senior years together as well. Ray and I enjoy each other’s company and our hobby is eating out! We also stay busy with church activities and working in the yard. We still think we’re 21 most of the time, but our bodies don’t always agree. We look forward to keeping up with everyone. Love to all of you. Arti & Ray

Thanks Mike Brauer for the email that put me in touch with this great site.
Its so good to connect with the co-workers at AT&T/Teletype. My thanks to all involved in making this possible. I reallyy miss Tom Nordengren’s news letter but this is even greater in that we can actually interact. I have wondered so often where so many of you went. I was kinda out of touch for awhile as I have been in California until June of this year for almost a year.
I retired in 1991 and truly miss all the old gang. Robert (my husband) passed away in 1996 with a long battle of Lou Garick disease and I was so thankful that I was retired then. I had the pleasure of having lunch with Phyl, Shirl and Nell Grimes lately and really enjoyed seeing them.
I’m now living in Little Rock and working part-time as assistant manager of the Senior Cottages of Otter Creek. Not really a job but something to do. I’ll be going back to California on March 1st. for about a month but I will be able to check the site there. Hope all of you have a great 2008 !! Scottie Quire

Tom DeGreve

Hey Everyone -

I stumbled upon this site by accident. And then found that I was listed among the missing in action. I worked at the plant from January, 1986 through July, 1991. I started in Industrial Engineering and Plant Engineering, later worked to help start up the 386SX PC assembly line for the SABRE/American Airlines contract, and finished in the Systems Engineering group working with Don Stuart, Suresh, and George Foo.

Looking at the photos and reading the posts, I am reminded of what a great time that was – and I miss all the great folks who passed through those doors. And the fun outside work…golf, 5K runs, trips to the horse races, fishing trips to the coast, Easter egg hunts, and on and on.

I have had a varied career since leaving Teletype, including GM of a pharmaceutical packaging plant in Texas and VP of Ops for Baldwin Piano, with responsibility for 3 plants in AR and MS. Most recently I have been involved with starting and running the operations for VC-backed technology companies in Memphis. First, mimeo.com and now PlanExpress.net.

I’d love to catch up with some of you all.

Mike,

What a great idea, thank you for doing this. I have e-mail addresses for several former employees and will forward this right away. Thank you John Naglak for forwarding this to me.

Walter and JannetteLife after AT&T: Walter and I moved to my birthplace near Batesville, AR, to take care of my parents in their golden years. Father died in 1997 after becoming infected with ehrlichiosis from a tick bite, Mother died in 2001 after a long bout with rheumatoid arthritis and a liver disease. When we moved there, we built our house three tenths of a mile off the main road on 145 acres of pasture and timber. Until my parents died, we thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet, the spring fed pond in our front yard that my father had stocked with catfish, bass, and crappie. The yard was frequented daily by a variety of wildlife such as deer, quail, and turkey. It was a virtual paradise if you didn’t mind the ticks and isolation. However, after the death of my parents, it became very lonely there, and we longed for bright lights and big city life again. Also, Walter’s health was starting to fail big time, so, in August 2004, I sold my beloved homeplace and moved us to Fort Mill, SC, a suburb of Charlotte, NC, where his two sons now live with their new spouses. Our lot is the size of a postage stamp compared to the 145 acre property; however, we don’t have to maintain the lawn.

Walter had open heart surgery in ‘05 (aorta valve replacement and reduction of enlarged septum), during which time he suffered a “medium” sized stroke which left him with mild dementia and also without vision in the lower left quadrant of both eyes. So, we have now traded roles in life–not an easy thing for either of us to do. But, after two and a half years of practice, we seem to have adjusted satisfactorily.

We live in an age-restricted community for those who are 55 and better where we have a large support group. http://www.fourseasonsgoldhill.org/outside_home.asp Walter looks forward to playing cards every week with some of his old school buddies whom he has known all his life. They play in our community clubhouse that is close enough for him toassistants walk to the games. In inclement weather, I drive him, or one of the guys comes by for him. I do all the driving now. Under the circumstances, life is good.

As usual, I have gotten a “little” long winded….

Happy holidays to all,

Jannette

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Here is a younger Walter.  Couldn’t find anything of him taken at AT&T.  You know we had to call someone from Personnel to take a picture inside the building.  Wonder what happened to all those pictures….

Dominick & Joan Filomeno

We have returned from Ruidoso, NM. After 4 months, it is so good to be home.
Upon receipt of Lucent health benefits package for 2009, Dom decided to chuck it and go on Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
Has anyone else noticed how your benefits are slowly disappearing? Maybe we can blame this on Bush??
The summer was fun, but there are just no people like good ol’ Arkansas people. Got pretty tired of “Texans”. No offense to anyone. I know, we were in New Mexico, but the place is full of Texans leaving the heat for those cool altitudes. Dom played a lot of golf, and we did a lot of sight-seeing, and eating, of course.
Don’t forget to vote today. It’s your only way to have your say.
God bless.

We just saw Kay Loyd at Silver Dollar City and she told us about this blog. This is a great way to keep in Dominick & Joan FilomenoDominick & Joan Filomenotouch. We haven’t made any of the Pioneer Dinners, as we rarely want to drive in Little Rock traffic. We are both in good health. Dom decided after working in Big Timber, MT, in 1999 that we should move out of Little Rock to a smaller town. He loved being in that small town. So, we came back home(for Joan) to Morrilton. We have 28 family members who also live here, as well as Joan’s mother, who is 92 and still living in her own home.
I am going to try to enclose a photo of Dom with his two grandchildren from John, if you all remember our son, John.
We were hearing from Tom Nordegren and Gayle Roberts for a while, but not recently.
We are planning to spend from June through September in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Will enjoy the summer better there than in the heat and humidity of Arkansas. We have an RV and will stay in an RV park there. We’ve already been two other times.
If Joan had her way, we would live there permanently. But, it’s really too far away from family.
We are very involved in our church, First Methodist, and the community. We’ve made some very good friends. We live on nearly an acre, so we have lots to keep. Dom is having a great time growing grapes, blueberries, and blackberries, and muscadines, as well as keeping the five pecan trees healthy. For a city boy, who hardly knew how to start a lawn mower when we got married, he is doing great guns.
He put all his certifications in suspension a few years back, and is slowly getting rid of all his technical information. It’s difficult for him though, because he loved the quality field.
We would very much like to know who sent in the photo of Dominick and Tom Benight, because Dom would like to have a copy of that photo. Our mailing address is 1001 E. Burrow, Morrilton, AR 72110. Dom was very fond of Tom and was so sad when he passed away. He saw the photo on this blog and it brought back of lot of good memories.
If I can, I will try to enclose a photo of us now. Dom looks great-I look chubby. haha
I could go on all day-but that’s enough.
We would love to hear from everyone.
Where is David Earls?
Our love and good wishes to all.

Hello all,

I look at this website and the names listed and the memories come flooding back. It’s been a long meandering road since I started with AT&T back in August of 1985. I spent 21 years with AT&T and Lucent Technologies. In 2006 I left Lucent and started work with Solectron which was subsequently bought by Flextronics. I still work with Alcatel-Lucent; they are my customer now.

I’m currently living in New Jersey…I never thought I would be there for any extended time. But here I am.

Greetings,

An update for me on the current Job situation.

In an Ironic twist of fate, I now work for SAP.

It is kind of interesting because I was on the SAP implmentation team just before leaving Celestica.

And was in the process of implementing SAP for IBM for Lucent just before being transferred to Avaya. Don’t you just love ERP’s?

I think I have worked on most of them, and am grateful to be employed still.

26 years down, 17 to go!

Out for now,

Hi all! I am certainly enjoying reading about so many of you. This is a great website. So glad for those who graciously put it together for us. I hope everyone is doing great.

I’m working at UAMS now. I’ve been there over 3 years so far, and don’t plan to leave any time soon. As I was one of the unlucky folks that did not get to retire (I’m still moaning over that one, unfortunately), I am starting a part time job soon to help with my daughter’s college expenses. UAMS has great benefits, but lacking in pay I’m afraid–hence, the need for supplemental income. Otherwise we are all doing well. I can’t believe my baby girl is leaving me for college this month. I miss her already! I’m trying to prepare for the infamous empty nest now.

Tommy and I have 3 kids, my oldest one married to a wonderful young lady and giving us 4 beautiful and loving grandchildren. As you know, we lost Tommy on August 4, 2005, and I just don’t think life will ever be the same again. However, we are doing our best to move on in a positive, happy manner as we know Tommy would want nothing less. We love and miss him dearly and always will. It is still difficult for me to imagine my life without him. But I continue to try.

So glad to hear so many of you are doing great! :) That is wonderful news. God bless you all!

This is GREAT!!!

Richard and I are doing OK. He had to retire in 2006 due to health problems. He hates retirement as much as I hate that I have to continue to work! After being given a Force Management Package and leaving the Avaya Health Services Group in 2001(?), I stayed at home for several months, then went to work at a local furniture store where I have been now for 5+ years. Recently, I was “promoted” to office manager.

Our grandsons are now 22, 19, and 15. Dustin the oldest is in college and working at Eskimo or Mexico Joe’s in Stillwater, OK. He tells us he got A’s and B’s last semester and has 1-1/2 years left to go…I’m not sure yet what his major is…it’s either criminal justice or psychology! Jeremy, 19, got married in July and he and his wife, Regina, are expecting their first child now. He is going to college and hopes to become a veterinarian. Austin, 15, lives to hunt and fish!!

At home, we have Sassye, our miniature pinscher who is 10, and Tuffie Cat…a cat we rescued from being dumped. They are both spoiled rotten and if they were children no one could stand them.

I wanted to include a photo of Richard and me taken at the Mt. Magazine Lodge, but couldn’t figure out how to get it in here! Hey…I’m still on a learning curve with computers! HA!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

I had a rather short stay in Little Rock, and if you blinked I had already come and gone but it was a rewarding and memorable experience for me.

Sadly email had not yet become the tool that it is today and I lost track of many dear friends.

It took me a year to get over my hankering for Tex-Mex and jalapeño cornbread for lunch, and more seriously, I missed the everyday friendly greetings from strangers as well as friends.

Cheers everyone, J

This is wonderful………thank you Gordon.

Tom and I are liveing in Royal AR on the Lake it is real nice and quiet compared to Little Rock.

As some of you know………..Tom survied a second Cancer Tumor in his brain his chance of survival were slim to none. He is in a wheelchair but still the same good old guy.

In my 32 years at the plant, I enjoyed all of it and miss all the people. I could stay on this site reading about every one all day.

Thanks to all, Tom & Joanne Nation

It has been quiet on here! I have had an exciting month so far, and wanted to share. My youngest, Amanda Gail, got her wish granted from Make a Wish on May 1st. She wanted to meet Kenny Chesney, so that is what we did! Make a Wish is awesome and our volunteers were like angels.
Secondly, my oldest, Thomas, graduated from Sheridan High School! It is good to finally get him through… it’s been trying to say the least. Middle child Ryan will be in 10th grade, and he can’t wait for Thomas to move out!!

Take care everyone!

Hello everyone! This is fantastic and thank you to the brilliant master minds behind this! Even though I was only at the plant from ‘96 – ‘06, it was enough time to form some long lasting friendships and many wonderful memories. I am working with AT&T now, formerly Cingular…. here we go again! I am very lucky to have landed here after Celestica, but miss everyone still so much. Take care everyone and keep in touch!!

I’ve been retired for about three years and really enjoying it. I belong to three quilt guilds and am very active with that. I meet on the last Thursday of the month with the Pioneers at the Golden Corral in North Little Rock on Warden Road from 11:00am til 1:00pm. We really have a great time and have a good turnout. We meet in the meeting room in the back of the restaurant. If anyone wants to meet with us, we would love to have you.

Matt is doing quite well with his upholstery business and Dennis is still working but looking forward to retirement. Hope to hear from some of you soon.

Karen Ellis

In Loving Memory of James Whitcomb Ellis, IV
May 5, 1949 – March 5, 1998

Ten years . . . seems like only yesterday since James died yet it seems like we’ve been without him forever. Here are some stories that made him the great guy we all knew and loved . . .

• He would meet me in the driveway to caution me that my youngest son had to write yet another note telling me about “showing out” in class. James asked me to please go easy on Zach because “we don’t want to stifle his personality.” Anybody that has known Zach over the years knows that his personality has never been stifled!!!

• Once James made it to Benton on Friday evening, there was no getting him back to Little Rock until Monday morning—Bobbie Reese and I still refer to him as “the Bentonian.”

• He drew pencil mustaches on a picture of the Maintenance crew so they would all look like Cauley!

• He and Cam (I think) hid some men’s boots in a restroom stall and watched Martina, the custodian, keep peeking around the door to see if “the person” had left so she could go in and clean.

• He gave me a 50th wedding anniversary card early because he was afraid he’d be senile by the time we’d been married for 50 years and he’d forget to give it to me. The fact that we were in our 40’s when we married was a pretty good indication we wouldn’t see our Golden anniversary.

I hope you have good memories of James also and would love for you to share them with me if you’d like.

God Bless all of you,
Karen Ellis
