Just want to thank everyone for your calls, your cards, your emails, and especially your prayers for me since my freaky accident. I’m doing well and having very little pain now. I’m truly a miracle and God has blessed me greatly.
Love,
Arti VanZandt

Does anyone know where Jim Crotty is now? I’d love to get in touch with him.

It’s great to hear from everyone!
Ray and I, now married alomst 18 years, live in North Little Rock (in the Scott area)with
our dachshund Rosi. Our daughter, JoBeth is an advanced practice nurse at UAMS in Little Rock. At age 37, she married Troy Singleton in April. We had a big church wedding and all survived! JoBeth & Troy are state represensatives for the Dachshund Rescue Organization so they always have a houseful of little doxies – our grandchildren we assume.
I’m HR Manager at Dassault Falcon Jet and still enjoy working; not sure when I will decide to retire. I work with several forer AT&T employees – Mike Berger, Walter Jones, Murray Hamilton among others. Ray has retired several times, once from the Navy after 22 years, and then from Celestica in 2006. Seems that when he stays home he is prone to falling off ladders and breaking bones (first a heel, then a wrist) so we’ve decided he’s better off working! He’s now working with Stan Ackerman and Betty McGhee at Deceuninck in the Little Rock riverport area.
Ray’s 89-year-old Mom is in the England Manor nursing home in the same room as her twin sister. Yes – Florene and Corene, age 89, came into the world together and are spending their senior years together as well. Ray and I enjoy each other’s company and our hobby is eating out! We also stay busy with church activities and working in the yard. We still think we’re 21 most of the time, but our bodies don’t always agree. We look forward to keeping up with everyone. Love to all of you. Arti & Ray

Eighteen years! Wow! Walter and I will celebrate 20 years of marriage in May. Where did the time go…. Cudos to you and me for an all-time record.
I see you have some longivity in your family too. Although my mother died at age 78, her five sisters lived much longer. In fact, we were in Arkansas last June to help celebrate the 100th birthday of one of her sisters.
Wish we could have another TTY reunion sometime….

Arti, I failed to say how good you and Ray are looking these days. Thank you for posting the photos; however, I can’t recall the names of everyone in the first one. Can you help identify them?

Arti – I thought it was neat to see the pictures. I also thought it was neat to Vicki – is that the correct name of the lady that worked in HR that died while she worked with the group?

Bobbie, Vicki Hollowell is correct. I think her maiden name was Abercrombie.

Hi Artie and Ray! What great pictures. Artie, remember I sometimes filled in for you when you “sometimes” took vacation?
Hi Ray!!
I remember when Vickie passed away, it was a sad time for all of us. I am happy to see her picture on the site, she was such a sweetheart.
Now I live in Scott! Over by Old River Lake, by the Damn side.
Good to hear all is well with you both!

Arti-I just made your chocolate cake the other day. Every time I thumb through my cookbook, I see your name. We are living in Morrilton-along with 25 other family members. A few too many once in a while. Dom loves the small town living-but we still miss lots about LR. This is fun! Hope to hear from you.

I posted this note under announcements a few days ago, then realized it does not show up if you subscribe to “updates” only. So here it is again.
Arti VanZandt had a bad accident last week in her home. Here is part of a note from Ray:
“…She broke disc 5 and 6, was temporarily paralyzed and feared she was dying. After having holes drilled in the sides of her head and wearing a torteous halo with a 40-pound weight to help re-align the spine, she had surgery on Tuesday. The discs were replaced with cavader bone and screwed toegether with titanium rods. She is home now, and is in quite a bit of pain, but thankful to be alive and moving. She has an 8-2 recovery period ahead so I’m sure she would love to hear from you by email, phone, etc.”

Here is an update from Ray (posted in announcements on November 15.)
Arti is doing extremely well considering the alternatives. Surgery went well and she is resting at home but has considerable pain. We assume the pain will lessen with time but she still has considerable tingling and pain in her hands and arms that we pray will dissipate with time. She could not move arms or legs originally so this is great progress. Easy for me to say since I’m not the one hurting. Keep her in your prayers. I’m sure she would appreciate any emails of support. Hi y’all,
I talked to Arti a few minutes ago. As always, she was very upbeat and thankful for the blessings she has received, and thankful for the progress in her recovery. She cannot use the computer yet, and asked me to thank everyone for thinking positive thoughts about her, and for the prayers, phone calls, cards, and notes of concern she has received. So consider yourselves “royally” thanked.
Blessings to all.
Jannette
