Spoke with Martha Hilson this week who worked in training with Gayle and Max…as far as I know she doesn’t have an email address.

This is GREAT!!!

Richard and I are doing OK. He had to retire in 2006 due to health problems. He hates retirement as much as I hate that I have to continue to work! After being given a Force Management Package and leaving the Avaya Health Services Group in 2001(?), I stayed at home for several months, then went to work at a local furniture store where I have been now for 5+ years. Recently, I was “promoted” to office manager.

Our grandsons are now 22, 19, and 15. Dustin the oldest is in college and working at Eskimo or Mexico Joe’s in Stillwater, OK. He tells us he got A’s and B’s last semester and has 1-1/2 years left to go…I’m not sure yet what his major is…it’s either criminal justice or psychology! Jeremy, 19, got married in July and he and his wife, Regina, are expecting their first child now. He is going to college and hopes to become a veterinarian. Austin, 15, lives to hunt and fish!!

At home, we have Sassye, our miniature pinscher who is 10, and Tuffie Cat…a cat we rescued from being dumped. They are both spoiled rotten and if they were children no one could stand them.

I wanted to include a photo of Richard and me taken at the Mt. Magazine Lodge, but couldn’t figure out how to get it in here! Hey…I’m still on a learning curve with computers! HA!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

  1. Hey Janis, it is amazing that we’re in the Accounting “field” now! HA! I remember Martha Hilson worked at Ferguson’s and am very surprised that she would just walk out. Sounds like something I’d like to do somedays, but would never have the guts to do. HA HA! You and Richard take care!

  2. Janis,

You and Richard are looking good. It was so nice to have dinner with you last June when we were in Arkansas for my aunt’s 100th birthday. We should make that an annual event and add a few more people every year–if we can find them. This blog should help. However, let’s choose a restaurant closer to Ferguson’s next time. I miss our long lunches at Cothams(?) in Scott. They had the best onion rings I have ever tasted. Auntie will be 101 this June, and she is still going strong!

  3. Good to hear from you. Does your husband have a software package to organize his informtion? I use FamilyTreeMaker which is very good and easy to use. A good website is RootsWeb.com. You can look at others research and maybe find someone who has already done some research on the family. I have found several branches of my family there. They also have SSDI (Social Security Death Index). You may find the death dates for some of his people (Since about 1950). Keep me posted on what you find and I can share other websites with you.
