We have really enjoyed reading all of the Blogs submitted by our friends at Teletype/Lucent/A.T.&T, etc. I retired on the last date of 1989 with the last golden handshake offered by the company and Florence retired in 1995. She was ask to remain at the plant, on contract to assist the personnel organization with the influx of people retiring at that time…… I did some consulting/training at Microsoft and The Bob Mowad Co. in Washington State, and at Sandia National Laboratories until Florence finally hung it up. That gave us the opportunity to utilize our place in Tucson, Arizona each Winter and return to our home in Little Rock each Summer. While in Little Rock we remain in constant contact with friends weekly and Teletype Pioneers monthly. In addition, our son and grandson live in Rogers, Ark and and our daughter lives in Beaumont, Texas. Also Florence still has relatives in Chicago and Aberdeen, Scotland and I have a few left in Kentucky. This gives us places to visit when we get the traveling bug.
Editorial Comment: Our era on this earth has been one of the most rewarding as it gave us the opportunity to work at a company for a number of years allowing us security not realized in today’s work environment. Good to hear you are both well. I have fond memories of QWL and appreciate all the life lessions that I gained. I’ll never forget giving the presentation to the folks in New Jersey and to the then governor Bill Clinton. It still amazes me how he was (suppose he still is) a true politician. I’ve often shared his comment about drawing the winning ticket for the tv that Teletype was giving away that week. “I’ll draw the ticket this time. But, don’t EVER ask me to do it again. By drawing this one ticket, I make one person happy and 3000 unhappy.”

Hello Florence and Gayle,
I have thought of you both so many times and its so good to know a little about where you are and whats going on in your lives now.
Just wanted to tell you that I have a nephew living there in Tucson now. I drove through Arizona in June of this year and infact spent a couple of days in Laughlin Nv. and then on to Kingman on my trip back from California. I have a great nephew living there in Kingman. Laughlin was not too kind to me if you know what I mean, Ha Ha
